MAD - Charity Century Ride 2010

Malakoff and Algotech, with Tropicana Golf & Country Resort and Kluang Mall, will be organizing a cycling event for charity called Make-A-Difference Charity Century Ride, also known as MAD Charity Century Ride on 23-24 October 2010

The purpose of the event is for charity where donations collected prior to the event will be given to several charity homes around Kluang in hope that the donations will make a difference in their lives. It is also a chance for us to give back to the society and help them by lessening their burdens financially.

The chosen charity homes are:

1) Miriam Home, Kluang

2) Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-anak Yatim Damo

3) Che Luan Khor Haemodialysis Centre

4) Kelab Kiwanis Kluang Mandarin

5) OKU Sembrong

The route is a good mixture of flats and rolling, that takes the cyclists from the lush Tropicana Golf & Country Resort, via Plus highway, exiting at Putrajaya to continue the ride crossing Bukit Pelandok, Port Dickson, Pengkalan Balak to Alor Gajah, Melaka, where we will be spending the night before continuing on the second day to Kluang, via Lebuhraya AMJ, Muar, Parit Sulong, and Yong Peng.


Day 1 (Saturday 23 October) – Tropicana GCR flag off – Plus highway – Dengkil – Kota Warisan – Bukit Pelandok – Port Dickson – Masjid Tanah – A Famosa, Alor Gajah, Melaka, 185km

Day 2 (Sunday 24 October) – A Famosa flag off – Melaka Tengah – Muar – Bakri – Parit Sulong – Yong Peng – Kluang Mall, Kluang, 175km

Day 3 (Monday 25 October) – Leave from Kluang to respective destinations by the bus provided or own transportation.



Food and beverages will be provided during the ride:

Day 1 – Breakfast at Tropicana, feeding at 60km, lunch at 101km, second feeding at 154km, post-ride meal at A Famosa, dinner at A Famosa.

Day 2 – Breakfast at A Famosa, feeding at 53.6km, lunch at 97.5km, second feeding at 135km, regroup at 160km, post-ride meal at Kluang Mall, dinner at Kluang Mall.

Day 3 – Breakfast will not be provided. However there are plenty of coffee shops around town where we can have our breakfast before leaving Kluang.

Day 1:

6.30am Breakfast

7.30am Flag off from Tropicana

4.30pm Arrival at A Famosa

5.00pm Check-in condo & banglo

8.00pm Dinner

8.30pm Briefing for 2nd day ride

9.30pm Dinner concludes


Day 2:

6.00am Pick-up of cyclists at condos and banglos by shuttle

6.30am Breakfast

7.30am Flag off from A Famosa

4.30pm Arrival of cyclists, Media and Guests at Kluang Mall

5.00pm Arrival of Yang Berhormat Dato' Seri Hishammuddin Bin Tun Hussein, Menteri Dalam Negeri

The cyclists will be escorted by marshals and Polis Di-raja Malaysia throughout the ride. We will be providing transportation from Kluang to KL Sentral by bus after the ride on Monday (departs at 10am from hotel) and the bikes will be carried on bonded truck back to KL Sentral.

For this noble event, each cyclist is charged RM100 for registration, which will be given to the charity homes as a contribution from the cyclists.
